Watch our ministry grow

Stockings For Soldiers

The most wonderful time of the year is here! But it’s so tempting for kids to get caught up in a “me-first” attitude.

That’s why we were excited to have our New Song students participate with kids from a local homeschool group in an event called Stockings for Soldiers, through which thousands of United States service men and women who are deployed overseas receive stockings stuffed with gifts at Christmastime.

New Song’s teacher, Grace Flint, was happy to take our girls shopping at Walmart to buy gifts because the trip helped them to focus on others.

“It was great to watch the girls get excited about choosing special gifts for people they had never even met!” shared Grace. “They were eager to select the nicest items, and that brought me such joy.”

Each month, Grace and other New Song staff members organize a service project for New Song students. It’s a great way to help them learn about the importance of loving and caring for others.

“I like to serve because it’s a kind and generous thing to do,” said 12-year old Lilli, who came to live on campus this fall. The enjoyment Lilli gets from serving helps her to really understand the words of Jesus when He said that “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)

The Stocking for Soldiers event is just one of many fun experiences the girls have had off campus the last couple months. We are glad this season that our students are experiencing the joy of giving. We pray they will also comprehend the most incredible gift of all: the gift God gave us in Christ Jesus, the Savior of the world!
