Watch our ministry grow

Spring and Summer Missions Trips At New Song!

God has graciously provided New Song Mission with a beautiful setting for at-risk children.  But there is a LOT of work in caring for a 100-acre campus with three homes, a playground area, a 2-acre pond, ½ mile road lined with trees, and nearly a mile of hiking trails!

Cold winter winds and windy conditions cause brittle tree branches to break and leaves and brush to blow around all over the campus. And since winter’s wrath has hidden away some of the beauty of New Song,  we need help uncovering that beauty!

Each spring, work teams are needed to come and spruce up the campus and clear away winter’s dirty work.  Kammy Simonton has been involved with campus cleanup groups for several years. “I’ve volunteered at New Song Mission several times over the past few years,” said Kammy, “so I've been able to watch the property take shape as houses have been built and landscaping has come to life. I particularly like working outdoors, so when I was given the option to use a trim mower on one occasion, I jumped at the chance! Being able to serve alongside friends was a great way to not only contribute to this godly outreach, but to build stronger relationships among those in our group.”

Taking a missions trip to campus is something people do for the good of others, but it turns out to be such a wonderful experience for the groups themselves. These trips help participants sense their part in God’s bigger community. Tim Pickens echoes that sentiment when he tells us, “After bringing a group of 10 co-workers from Cummins Engine, each of them told me they would love the opportunity to come back to serve.  They were aware of how they were giving to campus, but they didn’t realize how much they would take back with them.”

Tim went on to say, “Helping on campus is easy! Ron Eddins makes everyone feel at home. He gives us directions and allows us to work on our own but remains available if a need arises. It is such a peaceful atmosphere. Good things are happening there and the campus will be great for kids. I’m looking forward to helping out again!”

What can your team or group do to help out? You can volunteer to serve a day or more on campus! There’s work for everyone—youth, adults, skilled or general laborers. The chores include anything from lawn mowing to trail maintenance, from collecting limbs to trimming trees or planting shrubs and flowers, and also carpentry, plumbing, and painting.*

Thanks so much for considering coming out to serve at New Song! To arrange for a day to serve or to learn more, please email us at Volunteer@NewSongMission.org.

*Special projects we are working on this spring include: cabinet installation, trim and deck work, and installing light fixtures and plumbing.
