A Grateful Gathering

A Grateful Gathering

There’s something special about a crisp autumn evening filled with music, laughter, and gratitude. At New Song Mission’s Grateful Gathering, friends, families, and supporters came together to celebrate God’s faithfulness through joyful fellowship, heartfelt worship, and plenty of delicious food. We were so thankful to share this wonderful evening with all who were able to attend!

Guests joyfully arrived with sunny skies and smiles, as colorful leaves had already begun popping out on the beautiful Brown County campus. The guests were happy to be greeted by our staff and students, while the smell of pulled pork barbecue and home-cooked favorites filled the air.

All week leading up to the Grateful Gathering, each of the students asked how they could help prepare for the event,” shared Hope House Mentor, Katie Hill. “The kids even helped make apple and cherry cobbler desserts the night before, providing a sweet treat for our special campus guests. It was a great opportunity to teach the kids a little bit about hospitality.”

As the evening unfolded, the fun commenced across campus. Children enjoyed pumpkin painting, after which they joined our guests in friendly games of volleyball, basketball, frisbee golf, and corn hole. Guests also had the opportunity to tour the Hope House, where our Director, Bob Schloss shared ministry highlights, and Houseparents Isaac and Abby Lawrence showed the group around the home and answered questions. The spirit of togetherness was evident everywhere—whether through shared laughter, words of encouragement, or simply fellowshipping with one another.

When the sun began to set, everyone gathered around a bonfire for a special time of worship led by a member of Doxa Church. Voices rose and songs of praise rang throughout the campus. Together, we lifted our hearts in thanksgiving, celebrating God’s continued provision and how He is renewing and transforming the lives of children at New Song.

The Grateful Gathering wasn’t just an event to enjoy good food and fun activities—it was an acknowledgement of God’s goodness and the vibrant community He is building on campus. It served as a powerful reminder that when we come together in gratitude, our hearts are refreshed and our faith is strengthened.

As the evening drew to a close and the last notes of worship faded into the night, guests left with full hearts and grateful smiles. The laughter, the children, our guests, and the songs all painted a beautiful picture of what it means to live in community—rooted in faith, overflowing with gratitude, and united in purpose.
