Holistic, School-Year Transformation
Holistically transforming the lives of vulnerable children is a serious calling. The end of the school year always provides a good opportunity to reflect on how we’ve accomplished this mission.
We witnessed first-hand the emotional, social, academic, and spiritual growth of each of the six girls and boys who have been in our care since August. It has been a great privilege to help them work through their hurts, concerns, and frustrations, teach them how to trust in God’s sovereignty and strength, and equip them academically this past school year.

Each of our students have learned to overcome grief and loss in their lives. This is especially true for six-year-old KaMaria (“KK”), who dealt with the tragic loss of her father just before Christmas. Our staff was humbled and blessed to come alongside KK during that very difficult time of grieving she experienced in the months of January and February, shortly after his passing.
Each of our students experienced times this year when they’ve needed an arm around the shoulder, a listening ear they could express their feelings to, and simply someone to hold their hand and be their friend.
What an honor we have at New Song to be in the position to minister to their needs and share with them that they have a heavenly Father who loves them.
Over the past few months, our students have worked diligently to complete their academic responsibilities while also engaging in hands-on projects that sparked creativity and confidence. From painting flowerpots for loved ones to building their own bubbling lava lamps, each activity became more than just an assignment; it became an opportunity for growth, discovery, and joy. Through every lesson and project, students were challenged not only to learn academically, but also to develop perseverance, responsibility, and joy in their work.
One of the most meaningful traditions at New Song each year is our Young Authors project. Throughout the semester, students spend time writing about topics they have studied, illustrating pages, and designing their own books from cover to cover. What begins as a classroom assignment gradually becomes something much deeper. Students learn how to express their thoughts, tell their stories, and see value in their own ideas and experiences. For many, holding a completed book with their name on the cover is a moment they never imagined possible.
In late May, those efforts culminated in a special book signing celebration. Students proudly displayed their finished books while staff members, teachers, and classmates signed encouraging notes inside the covers. The room was filled with smiles, laughter, and a sense of accomplishment that could be felt by everyone present. It was more than a celebration of completed projects, it was a reminder that these children are capable, gifted, and deeply valued.
Moments like these beautifully reflect the mission of New Song: equipping children for life in Jesus’ name through compassionate care and a personalized education. Every academic lesson, creative project, and encouraging conversation is part of something bigger—instilling confidence, shaping character, and growing faith.
By providing this safe place we call New Song, where children are known, encouraged, loved, and challenged to grow, you are helping shape futures filled with hope and purpose. Thank you for your special partnership with New Song where together we are holistically transforming lives, one child at a time, in Jesus’ name.
