Garden City Church Blesses New Song
“We thank the Lord for His strength in getting these projects to the finish line,” said Andy Murdock of Garden City Church (Columbus, IN). Andy, as well as church member Cindy Smock, spearheaded three very special projects that the church recently completed on the New Song campus, those being:
1. Building a stone fire pit area overlooking the campus pond;
2. Constructing a wooden bridge over a small ravine, completing the loop on a ½ mile trail through the woods; and
3. Erecting a four-seat, commercial grade swing set on the edge of the campus park
“It's been fun to help build some new things that will bless the kids at New Song for years to come,” shared Cindy. “It was a blessing to be able to meet the girls and see their excitement about the fire pit being built. I also enjoyed working alongside the girls and some of the staff, making blankets for special needs children. I was so encouraged by the obvious bond the girls have with New Song staff members. I know the Lord is working in these girls' lives through the New Song team."
Garden City Church members donated an estimated 200 hours of combined labor on the three projects. “We’ve wanted to add these three features to the campus for quite some time,” said Bob Schloss, New Song’s Executive Director. “Each of the projects was a major enhancement to the campus and are directly benefitting the children here. That the church would both purchase the materials for the projects and provide the volunteers needed to complete them is extraordinary and says so much about the generosity of Garden City Church and its members.”

“We are thrilled that GCCC is able to partner with New Song Mission in ministry,” shared Pastor Brian Gilroy of the church. “We always have willing workers ready to assist in any way we can when called upon to serve on the campus of New Song. Through specific projects like the three we completed this fall, campus groundskeeping, stocking the ministry with food, and providing financial support—all of which the church and its’ members have done over the years at New Song—we consider it an important work that God allows our church to have a small part in investing our time and resources. The late American teacher and astronaut Christa McAuliffe once said, “I touch the future; I teach.” GCCC feels we impact the future for God’s glory as a result of our partnership with New Song Mission.”
We wholeheartedly agree, Pastor Brian! It’s only through the support of churches from Columbus and around the state that our ministry to Indiana’s at-risk kids can thrive. We thank Jesus for His sacrificial servants at Garden City church.
