Blossoming with Confidence

It’s amazing what God can do in just a few short months. Since coming to New Song Mission, 8-year-old Amere has blossomed in countless ways, in school, tackling third grade, and in his campus home. Amere’s growth has been a beautiful reminder of God’s faithfulness at work in our students’ lives.

This is Amere’s second year at New Song, and the change in him over the past few months has been an encouragement to all the staff here. Each day, he continues to grow in confidence, kindness, and maturity. Whether it’s while he’s playing a pick-up basketball game, joining in on board games on the living room floor, or challenging others to a round of Uno after lunch at school, Amere’s joyful personality shines brightly.

In the classroom, Amere has shown a growing love for learning. He listens carefully, asks thoughtful questions, and works hard to improve. “When I help him during Language Arts class, I’ve been able to see his eagerness to keep trying until he truly understands what he’s learning,” said Katie Hill, New Song’s Mentor. “He has already made so much progress this school year, and it’s been so encouraging to celebrate each milestone with him along the way!” Whether he’s sounding out words during reading time or working out a tricky math problem, Amere approaches each task with determination and a smile.

During the Hope House’s evening devotion time, Housemom Abby shared, “He’s usually the first to answer any question during devotions and always asks to lead us in prayer at the dinner table.” Amere’s eagerness to participate and his growing faith reflect how God is working in his heart. Each evening, as the students gather to read Scripture and pray, Amere listens closely and contributes with sincerity and excitement. It’s clear that he is developing not only a love for learning but also a deepening understanding of God’s love for him.

Amere’s journey is a wonderful reminder that God is always at work—teaching, guiding, and shaping lives through His steadfast love. Amere’s progress reflects the heart of what we do here at New Song–providing a Christ-centered home where children can grow in faith, character, and hope for the future.
