Amere Loves Hugs

There is a sweetness about Amere that warms the hearts of each staff member at New Song. At 7 years-old, he is our youngest student. While small in stature, Amere’s heart is as big as the ocean.
“I love hugs,” Amere often says to staff members as he comes at them with his arms open wide!
But Amere wasn’t initially that comfortable and outgoing.
“I remember when Amere came to summer camp last year,” recalled Miss Bea, New Song’s Social Worker and Classroom Tutor. “I don’t remember him saying a word at camp. He was very shy and quiet.

Oh, how times have changed! “Amere really opens up now,” continued Miss Bea. “He easily talks with everyone, and he is really silly and fun to be around!”
“The things I love most about New Song are all of the activities, the slip and slide, and Mr. Bob,” shared Amere.
With his young age and some of the challenges Amere has, life isn’t always easy for him. He sometimes struggles academically and finds it a little difficult to fit in at times.
But Amere is an overcomer whose resilience shines like the sun. All of the staff on campus are so proud of Amere for his amazing perseverance and the confidence he has gained.
And most of all, we love those big Amere bear hugs!
