A Message From the Director

Strengthening Our Structure

Earlier this month I [Bob] had lunch with former New Song Board President, Dan Glusenkamp, a man I dearly love. Dan served as a Board member in the ministry from 2009-16, leading a team of five other amazing Board members during an exciting time of campus construction.

God has always graciously provided the right people at the right time to serve on New Song’s Board. Each group of Board members have worked in harmony together, unified around the common goal of equipping children for life, in Jesus’ name.

Earlier this fall I approached several outstanding, godly people to join the Board in order to strengthen the structure of the ministry and prepare it for the future. Within a span of a few short weeks this fall our Board grew from four to nine members—the largest Board New Song has ever had! I’ve already been very encouraged to see the collective wisdom of the Board as they discuss fresh, new ways of looking at the challenges and opportunities that are before the ministry.

Lisa and I are tremendously grateful to each and every Board member who has served in the ministry—we consider them, as well as the 3,000 volunteers, financial supporters, and prayer partners part of the “great cloud of witnesses” of Christ upon whose shoulders New Song was built.

More than 20 years ago, Christ compelled Lisa and me to create a special place in the hills of Brown County where vulnerable children would find joy, love, and affirmation—and experience the goodness and grace of God in Christ. We are so thankful that many children have been blessed in Jesus’ name as they’ve experienced living on campus, attending our school, and enjoying our Summer Adventure Camps. With a solid Board structure now beneath New Song, I feel that the time is right to pass the leadership mantel of the ministry to the next generation of Christ-followers.

This fall the Board members and I are putting plans together to hire New Song’s next Executive Director, which we hope to do in the first half of 2027. For several months now I’ve been praying and trusting that the Lord will call the right person into the Executive Director’s role for this new, hopeful season of the ministry. While words can’t express how deeply rewarding it has been to care for and bless the boys and girls New Song has served, I believe that the ministry’s best days are ahead of it—there is so much potential to help more children!

Lisa and I look forward to continuing to support the ministry and its transition to new leadership. Will you join us in praying for our newly expanded Board as they steward the ministry into the future, as well as praying for the next Executive Director? Will you consider recommitting your financial support to help us hire the next Executive Director and additional staff in 2027? With your prayers and financial support, and the grace of God, New Song will grow and thrive like never before, equipping many more boys and girls for life, in Jesus’ name.

The way I feel about the days ahead for New Song is reflected well by a statement made by Adoniram Judson, a 19th-century American missionary to Burma, who once said, “The future is as bright as the promises of God.” Praise the Lord!
