Houseparent couples at New Song!

With two houseparent couples now living at New Song and our Campus Director now in place, we are praising God once again for His amazing provision!

Houseparents Logan and Olivia Stoner are from Mooresville, Indiana, have been married five years, and God placed on their hearts a strong desire to care for at-risk children a couple of years ago. Shortly after taking classes to become foster parents, the Stoners learned about the houseparent position at New Song. The Stoners successfully went through our hiring process, and in early February moved into Home A, where they will care for boys.

It’s a privilege to be able to serve God through New Song Mission,” shared the Stoners. “We love working with kids because they remind us of the joy of the Lord. We expect the ministry of being houseparents to be challenging, keeping us dependent on the Lord. We are so thankful for the new family God has given us at New Song. He has surrounded us with a community that extends God’s love to us. Before coming to New Song, we prayed for God to surround us with people who love Him, and God has been faithful to do so.”

Andy and Heather Beck came to New Song all the way from Houston, Texas. They’ve been married for 17 years and have two children, Hunter (12) and Hallie (9). In 2016 the Becks enrolled in a 10-month training program for missionaries, after which they began looking into houseparenting and contacted New Song. The Becks successfully moved through our hiring process and moved into Home B in mid-February, and they will care for girls.

“We’re very grateful to be part of a Christ-centered and like-minded team that feels like family,” said the Becks. “It’s so neat to see how God is in every detail of New Song. We are so honored to be a part of what God is doing here at New Song, and we can’t wait to serve Him by caring for precious kids!”

Bob and Lisa Schloss, co-founders of New Song, are grateful to have the Stoners and Becks as houseparents and ministry partners. “Lisa and I feel very blessed by God for bringing us the Stoners and Becks in His perfect timing,” shared Bob. “Both couples have a lot of compassion for vulnerable kids and hearts that seek to follow Jesus. They’ve taken to our training program really well, and we believe that they will do a great job caring for the kids in their homes.”

Also joining the campus team earlier this year is Kyle Augsburger, who serves as New Song’s Campus Director. Kyle and his wife Tonya have been married 25 years and they have five children, three of whom are still living in their home, Mary Rose (18), Levi (16), and Jesse (15). Kyle has served the Lord for over 20 years as a camp director and recently finished up a theology degree at Bethlehem College in Minnesota. The Augsburgers are living in a home they purchased just outside of Nashville, and Tonya and the kids have all been pitching in and helping New Song in many ways.

God in His wisdom and grace directed me to New Song,” shared Kyle. “My passion for faith formation in the next generation fits together so well with New Song's mission to equip children for life. The team at New Song has been a delight to work with, and I’m excited to spend the days ahead supporting houseparents so that we can deeply impact as many children as possible with the love of Christ.”

Kyle has already proven to be an invaluable resource to Lisa and me,” said Bob. “He has the unique ability to both oversee campus operations and also build solid, nurturing relationships with our houseparents and other staff. Kyle is assisting with the training of houseparents in teaching them precious truths of God’s holy scriptures that will help them have an even better biblical foundation for their parenting.”

Houseparent training is more than half completed, and New Song has begun to network with referral sources which serve at-risk families such as homeless shelters, food pantries, and other ministries. Please pray for the Stoners, the Becks, and the Augsburgers as they serve Jesus on the New Song campus, and please also pray for children in need of New Song.
